Creams containing shea butter or almond oil, or panthenol, which are free from parabens, fragrances and alcohol, are best suited. They should also be dermatologically tested.
After removing the protective film or your Second Skin (it is best to discuss the timing with your tattoo artist), the tattoo should be creamed frequently (4-6 times a day) for the first few days to ensure a good healing process. REACH-compliant tattoo inks meet the requirements of the EU Chemicals Regulation. They contain only approved pigments and additives that have been tested for health risks. Since January 2022, only such inks may be used and sold in the EU.
Not for tattooing, but tattoo inks that do not comply with REACH may still be used as artist's inks, provided they are not applied to or inserted into human skin. This means that you may use them, for example, for tattooing on artificial skin/test skin or for illustration and presentation purposes in the artistic field. The use of these inks on humans is prohibited throughout the EU – whether in a studio, privately or on voluntary ‘test subjects’. Advertising or labelling such products as ‘tattoo ink’ is also no longer permitted if they are not REACH-compliant. We only offer REACH-compliant inks to ensure safety and prevent you from accidentally purchasing ink that you are not allowed to use for tattooing.
